There have been many rumors of miyauchi going out of business, but what is the current production status?

"miyauchi is gone"
can you confirm or deny?

now i regret having bought cheaper binoculars. of course i was a beginner and i didn't knew much about optics but if i would have waited a little bit and learned a little bit more about binoculars maybe i would have bought a pair of miyauchi pleiades instead and help preserve a company that produce a quality product. i find this very sad if it is true. i just went to the cloudy night forum and saw pictures of the miyauchi factory.
the economy is tough for companies that make only high end stuff. if i was rich i would help them.

Can you now confirm that Miyauchi is gone-except for your closeout section and the used market?

ed jones Can't say definitively. They still have a facility in Japan (downsized). We had some communication a couple months ago- there was some possibly of government contract work for them, but I don't expect to see any more consumer products.
