There have been many rumors of miyauchi going out of business, but what is the current production status?

Hi Ed,
Hard to say.  We are waiting for an order that we paid for long ago.  We occasionally get an email update about the cause of the latest delay, but it is not very encouraging.
Regards,
Kevin

Ten each of the 5x32 and 7x50 Binon's.  Two Galaxy BR-141's (both on hold for buyers if we actually receive them).  I'm not very optimistic at this point...

I had some communication with them a week ago.  Can't officially write them off yet...

now i regret having bought cheaper binoculars. of course i was a beginner and i didn't knew much about optics but if i would have waited a little bit and learned a little bit more about binoculars maybe i would have bought a pair of miyauchi pleiades instead and help preserve a company that produce a quality product. i find this very sad if it is true. i just went to the cloudy night forum and saw pictures of the miyauchi factory.

the economy is tough for companies that make only high end stuff. if i was rich i would help them.

Kevin,

Can you now confirm that Miyauchi is gone-except for your closeout section and the used market?

Can't say definitively.  They still have a facility in Japan (downsized).  We had some communication a couple months ago- there was some possibly of  government contract work for them, but I don't expect to see any more consumer products.
